The Top ‘10’ New Technologies Introduced for the 2020 Model Year

New Mercedes-Benz

Mercedes-Benz has been incorporating new technologies and trends into their vehicles for many years. As the years have gone, each new model raises the bar for things like convenience, safety, technology, and performance. With the 2020 lineup starting to come out, there are ten new technologies that we would like to share with you.

1. MBUX

The MBUX interior assistant allows you to control a variety of features in your vehicle with just body movement recognition. A camera is included in the overhead console of your Mercedes vehicle. When you reach towards your touchscreen, certain elements will be highlighted automatically. You can do other things like reach towards your rearview mirror to have your overhead lamp turned on.

2. E-Active Body Control

Mercedes-Benz is releasing the E-Active Body Control active suspension as part of a 48-volt platform. It comes with a newly designed air suspension.

3. Carwash Technology

When you are ready to wash your vehicle, you select the Carwash Function option to fold your exterior mirrors in, raise the suspension, suppress the rain sensor information, and adjusts your camera to help you drive into a carwash.

4. 4Matic

The 4Matic system comes with a fully variable all-wheel drive. It can also change up your torque distribution on the front and rear axles to provide better traction.

5. V8 Engine with 48-Volt System

A new V8 Biturbo gasoline engine with a 48-volt electric system is being provided to the GLE and GLS models. You can achieve 483 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque.

6. A New 35 and 45 Engine Variant

The CLA and A-Class Mercedes vehicles have the option for an AMG-enhanced, 2.0 liter, Inline-4 turbo engine that provides 302 horsepower.

7. Active Stop and Go Assistance

This feature allows your vehicle to recognize when a traffic jam is coming up. It will support the car and driver up to 37 miles per hour during stop and go traffic.

8. Cross Traffic Technology

If your vehicle senses that there is a danger of a collision with upcoming traffic as you turn on your signal to make a turn, your vehicle will brake accordingly.

9. Exit Warning

Vehicles that come with Blind Spot Technology will also receive Vehicle Exit Warning technology. This lowers your risk of a collision after your car is parked. A typical scenario would be if a person on a bicycle was coming by your vehicle after you were parked. Your blind spots will be monitored for approaching traffic.

10. Energizing Coach

Your Mercedes will use an algorithm to determine a specific program that would be tailored to you as an individual. If you are wearing a Garmin device that is compatible with your vehicle, you can pair up with your vehicle.
