Spring 2022 Auto Maintenance Tips

After your car is exposed to the elements in the winter season, it may need attention in the spring season to get it back in good shape. Performing maintenance in the spring can prevent excess wear and tear on the car and will also help it to remain reliable. Here are a few auto maintenance tips to follow to get your vehicle ready for more time spent on the road.

Test the Air Conditioner

Test out your air conditioner in advance to ensure it's working correctly. Turn it on and test the different speeds while checking for cool air coming through the vents. If you notice warm air blowing through the vents, you'll need to get the issue diagnosed and repaired by a mechanic.

Change the Oil

Keeping your engine in good shape requires changing the oil each season to ensure the parts are properly lubricated. This will prevent excess wear and tear from developing and will also prevent the car from breaking down while driving around.

When you hire a mechanic to change the oil, you can also request for the tires to be rotated to ensure the tread wears down evenly on each tire. It's also a good time to top off the coolant, windshield wiper fluid, and brake fluid.

Get the Car Detailed

Schedule to have your car detailed to remove dirt and trash that has accumulated in the cabin. You can also wipe down the dashboard, clean the vents, and vacuum the seats. Use leather upholstery cleaner on any area that has leather materials to condition the material and prevent damage. You can also wax the exterior of the vehicle to restore the shine of the paint.

Update Your Emergency Kit

Look through your emergency kit to test out the items that are stored inside to ensure you're prepared for driving around in the spring. Your flashlight may need new batteries, or it may be time to add more water bottles to the kit. If you have snow boots or gloves, you can remove them to free up extra space in the kit. You can also check the jumper cables for any damage or frayed wires.
