Mercedes-Benz owners who enjoy watching movies on long road trips will be excited to learn that Sony Pictures Entertainment and IMAX Corporation are partnering with the automaker to bring IMAX Enhanced content to Mercedes-Benz vehicles starting this summer.
RIDEVU, Sony’s in-car entertainment service, is expanding its offerings to include the largest selection of IMAX Enhanced movies from Sony’s extensive library, including Spider-Man: No Way Home, Venom: The Last Dance, and Uncharted. IMAX Enhanced delivers the signature picture and sound quality of IMAX outside the theater, featuring an expanded aspect ratio, IMAX’s proprietary DMR process, and DTS:X sound in multiple languages. While IMAX Enhanced movies have been available for home viewing for years, this marks their first availability through RIDEVU.
RIDEVU, designed for in-car entertainment, lets passengers stream, rent, or buy movies for viewing on built-in vehicle screens or on iOS and Android devices. The service is currently available in the U.S., Canada, Japan, the U.K., Ireland, and Germany.
This summer, the latest MBUX model will be the first Mercedes-Benz vehicle to support IMAX Enhanced movies, with more models expected to follow.
