What's New for the 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC?

Very few automakers have adapted to the SUV era as well as Mercedes-Benz has. Among its best offerings in the highly competitive SUV world is the GLC model - an exceptionally smooth, yet powerful luxury crossover SUV with very few equals. What really stands out in the GLC is its build quality and the attention to detail, especially in the cabin. Every aspect, from the open-pore wood trim to the metal speakers, is exquisitely fitted. And we have not even mentioned its generous cargo space and roomy cabin. For 2018, Mercedes-Benz adds two models to the GLC's lineup: a GLC 350e plug-in hybrid and a tire-threading AMG® GLC 63. Heated wipers, entrance lamps and the Storage package are now standard. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are now available in the Smartphone Integration package. The AMG® Sports Exhaust, AMG® Track Pace App, AMG® Performance exhaust and AMG® rear chrome trim are also available to the AMG® models.

Trims & Features

The 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC's seats five and has four flavors: the entry-level RWD GLC 300, the new GLC 350e plug-in hybrid, the AMG® GLC 43 and the throaty AMG® GLC 63. The GLC 300 offers adaptive suspension damping, a rearview camera, automatic wipers, power-folding mirrors, a power liftgate and 18-inch wheels. Its cabin is home to an auto-dimming rearview mirror, adjustable drive settings, dual-zone electronic climate control, a power-adjustable driver's seat, a keyless ignition and simulated leather upholstery. Tech enthusiasts will be pleased with the highly-intuitive 7-inch infotainment display, an eight-speaker sound system with two USB ports and HD radio and the mbrace® Connect with smartphone integration. The GLC 350e comes with features similar to those found in the GLC 300. The AMG® GLC 43 adds two inches to the wheels, a sports steering wheel and a sport-tuned air suspension to the GLC 300's equipment. The AMG® GLC 63 further adds LED headlights, a mechanical limited-slip differential, a 14-speaker premium Burmester surround-sound system, variable torque distribution and upgraded brakes. Luxury superlatives are also available, such as a panoramic sunroof, a cabin fragrance and air purification system and a head-up display.

Horsepower

2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC ExteriorAll but the GLC 300 come standard with Mercedes-Benz 4MATIC® drivetrain (AWD). Also, the GLC 350e is the only model with a seven-speed automatic transmission; the rest employ a nine-speed auto. A 2.0-liter turbocharged I-4 engine that makes 241 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque motivates the base GLC 300. It returns 22/28 mpg* city/highway with RWD and 21/28 mpg* when upgraded to the 4MATIC drivetrain. The same four-cylinder engine combines with an electric motor to produce a combined 315 hp and 413 lb-ft of torque in the GLC 350e plug-in hybrid. Stepping up to the considerably potent AMG® GLC 43 ups the game with a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 that pushes out an impressive 362 hp and 384 lb-ft of torque. The new AMG® GLC 63 packs a beastly 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 worth 469-hp, 479 lb-ft of torque. Mercedes-Benz claims a 3.9-seconds 0-60 mph sprint for this model.
