Car Not Accelerating

It's not unusual for an automobile to experience problems as it accumulates more and more mileage. Issues can come up with your brakes, tires, transmission, technology, and even acceleration. As with most vehicle problems, noticing that you're not able to accelerate quite as quickly as normal comes with some common potential causes. Our technicians at ABC Nissan know what to look for in this case, and we'd like to share with you what we take into consideration.

Checking Your Mass Air Flow Sensor and Your Oxygen Sensor

One of the first things we'll look at if you're complaining about acceleration problems is your mass airflow sensor and oxygen sensor. A mass airflow sensor monitors the amount of air moving into your engine, while your oxygen sensor will assess the ratio of fuel to air. When these sensors become dirty from daily driving, they can decrease your acceleration ability. Cleaning or replacing them can typically fix the issue.

Taking a Look at Your Throttle Position Sensor

A throttle valve located in your engine will open and close to accommodate for the amount of acceleration power you want to utilize. If your throttle position sensor isn't communicating with your vehicle's computer properly, there's a breakdown in acceleration. This sensor might be dirty, or we may need to replace the unit.

Replacing a Fuel Filter That's Past Its End of Life

Your fuel filter is designed to remove particles that would otherwise accumulate in your fuel and engine. Eventually, a sludge-like buildup would damage your engine. We can change your fuel filter if it looks overly dirty, which should ensure that you're accelerating with ease.

Replacing an Engine Air Filter

As air passes through your engine, an air filter will remove particles that come from dust and other debris. Your owner's manual describes the frequency at which you should be changing this filter, and we'll help you with the process of doing so to maintain acceleration power.

You can reach out to ABC Nissan if you are noticing problems with acceleration when you're trying to merge onto the highway or trying to get up to speed while on the road. We can check these common problems to see if one of them is to blame, and we'll provide you with a fix for the issue.

Mercedes-Benz has inaugurated a cutting-edge light testing center at its Immendingen, Germany, proving ground. Measuring 443 feet long and 26.2 feet high, this facility is one of the most advanced of its kind and is set to transform the testing of vehicle headlights, driver-assistance systems, and chassis durability. The new proving ground also boasts a digital twin, which allows engineers to create virtual models and simulate vehicle performance before any physical track testing occurs.
