Federal EV Tax Credit
What Should Mercedes-Benz Drivers in Lincoln Know About EV Incentives?
The federal EV tax credit is changing. The Clean Vehicle Credit—worth up to $7,500—is set to expire September 30, 2025, unless renewed by Congress. The home charger credit ends even sooner, on June 30, 2026. If you're thinking about going electric with Mercedes-Benz, it’s smart to move soon.

What’s Included in the $7,500 Credit—And Who Qualifies?
The credit is split in two:
  • $3,750 for EVs that meet critical mineral sourcing requirements
  • $3,750 for vehicles meeting battery component manufacturing standards
Eligibility varies by model and manufacturing origin. Not every vehicle qualifies for the full credit, so it’s important to verify specifics before purchasing.

What Must a Mercedes-Benz EV Have to Be Eligible?
To qualify for the federal tax credit, a Mercedes-Benz EV must:
  • Be new at the time of sale
  • Have a battery of at least 7 kWh
  • Undergo final assembly in North America
  • Be made by a qualified manufacturer
  • Be priced under $80,000 MSRP for SUVs/trucks or $55,000 for other vehicles
  • Be sold by a dealer who reports the sale to the IRS
  • Meet IRS income limits for buyers
When Do These Credits Expire?
  • The Clean Vehicle Credit ends September 30, 2025
  • The home charger installation credit ends June 30, 2026
Neither program is guaranteed to be extended. If you’re planning a purchase, early action ensures eligibility while incentives last.
