When Mercedes-Benz launched the Sprinter 30 years ago, it introduced an entirely new category of light commercial vehicles. From delivery services to luxury transport, the first-generation Sprinter proved versatile across a wide range of applications. Its comfortable driving experience, intuitive features, and practical cargo space helped redefine the industry. Bridging the gap between standard passenger cars and heavy-duty commercial trucks, the Sprinter quickly became a global phenomenon.

Mercedes-Benz has inaugurated a cutting-edge light testing center at its Immendingen, Germany, proving ground. Measuring 443 feet long and 26.2 feet high, this facility is one of the most advanced of its kind and is set to transform the testing of vehicle headlights, driver-assistance systems, and chassis durability. The new proving ground also boasts a digital twin, which allows engineers to create virtual models and simulate vehicle performance before any physical track testing occurs.
