What's New For the 2020 Mercedes-Benz S-Class?

For the first time, an electrical plug-in trim of the S-Class will be made available by Mercedes-Benz in the form of the 560e engine. This hybrid model combines both a traditional twin-turbo V-6 with an electric motor. This model allows for a 25-mile range solely on electrical power.

Additionally, all across the S-Class line, both Active Parking Assist and Keyless Go mode have been made standard.

2020 S-Class Has Varied Trim Levels & Countless Features

Everything on the interior of a Mercedes-Benz S-Class sedan, regardless of the selected model option, is defined by its luxurious standard equipment, as well as optional extras.

Several customizable options for the interior trims and panels are available for the seats, dashboard, and other interior panels. Power seat options are also available for rear seats, as well as massage options for all seats.

The S-Class features a high-quality Burmester audio system, as well as two 12.3" multimedia displays. The displays feature support for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto supplemental services, navigation service, SiriusXM Satellite Radio service, and the vehicle itself features onboard Wi-Fi access, Bluetooth device support, USB connections and a wireless charging pad for smart devices.

What's Under the Hood of the 2020 Mercedes-Benz S-Class?

There are three different engine options for the S-Class, but no information is available yet on the new 560e model. The remaining two engine options are the S450, a 362-hp twin-turbo 3.0L V-6, and an S560, a 463-hp twin-turbo 4.0L V-8. The standard configuration is rear-wheel drive (RWD), but All-wheel drive (AWD) is also available for both the V-6 and the V-8. The S450 engine averages 31 miles per gallon (mpg), while the S560 engine averages 29 mpg. The 560e engine has not yet been tested for fuel efficiency, but it is expected to surpass both of the other engine options impressively.

2020 S-Class Safety Technologies

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class offers a variety of both standard and optional driver assistance technologies, such as standard lane-keeping assistance and automated emergency braking. An optional safety add-on is adaptive cruise control, which also includes a partially autonomous driving mode.
